A Blind Faith in Our Own Biology
Every print has it’s own unique requirements, to capture or draw each element to creat the final image I
have invisioned. “A Blind Faith in Our Own Biology” required me to dawn a scuba tank to photograph my
model Gary underwater floating in a pool to
give the impression of weightless spirit.

Other images were gathered from a vatiety of sources. The ocean at the top of the print was photographed
on a stormy winter day at Makapu’u Beach on the island of Oahu.
The “blind” face on the far left of the print was photographed at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London
while other images were appropriated from antique books and a discarded pelvic X-ray. This process of
gathering elements, placing them in new combinations to
create an original unique expression is just one of the
challenges that stimulates me and drives my work.
“A Blind Faith in Our OwnBiology” was created from 31
separate lithographic plates printed in London at Artichoke
Print Workshop on a hand operated offest proofing press
and on a Brandt Direct litho press at the Honolulu
Printmakers workshop in Hawaii in 1997.
