Perspectives (mouse over the image to see a simulated side view)
"Perspectives" was created for the Royal Society of Painter and Printmaker’s and Royal Water
Colour Society’s “Secret Postcard” fundraiser at the Bankside Gallery in London. Printed from
5 plates previously used for the prints, “Spirit and Flesh,” and “A Threat Unspecified,” the stretched
face of my model, Kalae, is from the print, “Eye of the Beholder” where the distortion of his face
only comes into proper perspective when viewed at an angle or from the side. The same effect
holds true with this print, though it is small enough that it can rest in the viewer's hand.
“Perspectives” was printed at the Honolulu Printmakers Workshop in 2005 using paper donated
by St. Cuthbert's Mill and is in a variable edition, E/V, of 8 prints.
