Species II
"Species II" was the first successful photo lithograph I made. Though the image looks rather horrific, the
idea behind it was to blend animal and human to show that all creatures share similar feelings, common
origins, and rights of existence. The background image was photographed at UCL’s (University College
London) Zoology Department’s Bone Museum, a wonderfully old Victorian collection that is very accessible
within the College. This work was printed at The Slade School of Fine Art as part of my degree course in
1991. This print is in the collection of The Slade School of Fine Art, London, England.
Gary, the model who appears in this work can also be seen in
“Dogma,” “Blind Faith in Our Own Biology,” and “A Threat Unspecified.”
