When I first met Ming he was finishing up a Law Degree at the University of London yet generously took time from his exams to pose for me. Originally a citizen of Australia with roots in Singapore, I found Ming to be a thoughtful and deeply philosophical person whose own outlook on life influenced the print I created with him. A man whose physical conditioning was disceptive, hidden under a sweater, when he first took off his top, I was blown away by his concealed muscularity.

Ming appears in the print: ”Inner Strength”.

Below is an example of the successive shots taken during a modeling session where I try the same general pose or body position but with slight variations. I share this series of photos only because I found it curious that Ming appears to have no lower body in many of these shots . Ming's expression is relaxed and common yet I couldn’t get over how these images are reminiscent of the old “Carnival Freak Show” photographs from the early 1900’s where afflicted people would be displayed for the wonder of an often rural public’s gaze, providing the unfortunate with often their sole source of income..
